The Women Can Build LatAm project presents its Action Plan for the inclusion of women in the construction sector (available in Spanish), a strategic tool that sets out concrete and practical measures to promote female participation in an industry that has historically been male-dominated.
This document, developed collaboratively by the project partner organisations, aims to provide a practical and effective guide for organisations, trainers, institutions and companies, with the goal of increasing women’s presence, skills development and employability in the construction sector in the participating countries: Spain, Italy, Chile and Argentina.
Methodology
The Action Plan was designed through a participatory process involving the joint work of women professionals from the sector, training centres, trainers and companies.
The methodology included working groups, interviews and workshops, which made it possible to identify real barriers, opportunities and needs related to women’s inclusion in construction sites and construction-related activities.
Structure
The document is structured around three strategic lines, bringing together operational measures and actions aimed at:
- Institutional and cultural strengthening, through initiatives designed to raise awareness and build capacity among key sector stakeholders.
- Skills development and training with a gender perspective, aimed at improving women’s technical and professional qualifications, as well as those of professionals supporting them in training processes.
- Cultural transformation and equality within organisations, with actions to foster more inclusive and equitable working environments that are able to attract and retain female talent.
Each of these strategic lines includes detailed action sheets, offering practical guidance for implementation in different organisational and territorial contexts, helping interested entities turn ideas into concrete actions.
