As part of the European project Women Can Build LatAm, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the partners gathered for the first time to discuss progress in their mission to improve the inclusion of women in the construction sector.

Coordinated by Fundación Laboral de la Construcción and involving the Employment Agency of the Madrid City Council, the Institute for the Professional Education of Building Workers in the Province of Bologna (IIPLE), RedMaestra, the Catholic University of Temuco (UCT), and Fundación Eurosur, this project aims to increase female representation in a sector traditionally dominated by men.

The main focus of the meeting was to review one of the project’s initial outcomes: a Status Quo report that addresses the current situation of women in construction across the participating countries. This document, which compiles relevant data from Spain, Italy, Chile, and Argentina, will be crucial for designing strategies to promote gender equality and generate job opportunities for women in the sector.

In addition to discussing this report, the partners emphasised the importance of strengthening international alliances and sharing best practices that could be applied to different local contexts. This collaborative work reinforces the consortium’s commitment to inclusion and equity in the construction industry, paving the way for a more diverse and equal future.

In this context, the Women Can Build project continues to establish itself as a benchmark in promoting gender equality in training and employability within the construction sector, proving that change is possible when working together with a shared vision.
