In a recent interview published by the European platform BUILD UP Skills, Luisa Sileni, Project Manager at Scuola Edile di Bologna (IIPLE), shared her insights on the challenges and advancements in vocational qualification within the construction sector. The discussion focused on her experience in European training initiatives, including her involvement in the ‘Women Can Build LatAm’ project.

During the interview, Sileni stressed the importance of modernising how the construction sector is communicated to younger generations, highlighting innovation, sustainability, and the opportunities linked to digitalisation and green technologies. She also emphasised the need to encourage greater inclusion of women in the industry, promoting diverse and equitable workplaces.

The ‘Women Can Build LatAm’ project, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, aims to foster the participation of women in the construction sector across Europe and Latin America. Sileni emphasised that initiatives like this are essential to transforming the traditionally male-dominated culture of the industry through gender-sensitive vocational training, stakeholder awareness, and the creation of synergies between public and private institutions.
