A recent report by the Consiglio Nazionale degli Ingegneri (CNI) reveals a significant increase in the presence of women in the engineering sector in Italy. According to the data, in 2021, women accounted for 26.6% of engineering graduates, with a total of 277,201 female engineers in the country. This increase is particularly notable in the fields of Architecture and Civil Engineering, where women make up to 60% of those enrolled.

Despite this progress, the report highlights that a significant gender pay gap persists in the sector. Women engineers continue to face challenges in terms of pay equity and career opportunities compared to their male colleagues. The CNI underlines the need to implement policies and measures that address these disparities, promoting greater gender equality in the Italian engineering field.
