The number of women employed in the construction sector in Italy has grown significantly in recent years, according to Istat data. This increase is reflected both in the workforce and in the occupation of professional and leadership positions. In addition, more and more women are graduating from programmes such as the Construction, Environment and Territory Course (formerly known as Geometry), and are excelling in areas such as engineering, architecture, finishing work and driving heavy machinery.

Initiatives such as the European project “Women Can Build” and the document “Donne per un nuovo Rinascimento”, promoted by the Italian Department for Equal Opportunities, underline the importance of female training in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. These measures aim to inspire new generations from childhood, eliminating stereotypes and encouraging the participation of women in traditionally male sectors. The key, according to these strategies, lies in strengthening school guidance, training tutors and raising awareness among families to support young girls on their way to technical and scientific careers.
