Partners of the ‘Women Can Build LatAm‘ project met in Madrid from 23-25 September to celebrate the fifth and final transnational meeting of the international consortium, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme. This gathering marked the culmination of an initiative that has worked for three years to promote gender equality in the construction sector across Europe and Latin America.
Comprehensive project evaluation and results obtained
The session on 23 September began with a visit to the training centre and workshops of the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción de Madrid. During this first working session, the partners conducted a review of all project results and gender equality communication campaigns.
Topics addressed included the alliances and agreements reached by each organisation to disseminate and promote women’s incorporation into construction, as well as planning for the project’s final actions, including preparation of the final report.

Visit to Lignum Tech
On 24 September, the consortium travelled to Cuenca to visit the facilities of Lignum Tech, an industrialised construction company that has developed specific training programmes aimed at women with a commitment to employment.
During the visit, consortium representatives were able to learn first-hand about:
- Production facilities for industrialised bathrooms, facades and terraces
- The training and employment programme for women implemented by the company
- The incorporation of robotic technology and sustainable systems, such as timber
- The sector’s future vision with greater female incorporation and the role of industrialised construction

Institutional collaboration and employment guidance
During the morning of 25 September, project partners visited the facilities of the Madrid Employment Agency, where the partners held a meeting with specialist careers advisers to learn about different actions for integrating women into the labour market and vocational guidance strategies.
Final event at the European Parliament Office
The fifth transnational meeting culminated with the final dissemination event held at the European Parliament Office in Madrid, which brought together 385 people (85 in person and 300 connected online) to share the project’s achievements and the good practices developed during these three years of work.
