Giovanni Carapella is an expert in the construction labour market, training, health and safety on construction sites, innovation and digitalisation of the construction sector, sustainability, fighting the gender gap in a sector where women are traditionally under-represented.
Participatory planning, real estate, urban regeneration and redevelopment of peripheries, urban planning and land use planning, roads and infrastructures.
He has coordinated numerous research projects at European and international level as project manager, and has collaborated as an expert with several DGs of the European Commission on training and safety at work.
He was director of Formedil, the Italian national body for vocational training in construction. He was a member of the coordination group of the European Network RE.FORM.E., a network for construction training in Europe, consisting of training bodies from France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.
