On 10 June, the national Info Day of the ‘Women Can Build LatAm‘ project, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, took place at the National University of Cuyo (UNCuyo) in Mendoza, Argentina.
Organised by Fundación Eurosur, the Argentine partner of the project, the event was held under the theme “Debates and reflections on gender inequalities in the construction sector”. It gathered participants from academia, institutions, the private sector, and women working in construction to reflect on the challenges related to gender equality in the industry.

Throughout the day, speakers presented the project’s objectives and progress, which aim to promote the active participation of women in a traditionally male-dominated sector through the transfer of best practices from Europe to Latin America. Representatives from Fundación Eurosur, UNCuyo, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and other partner institutions shared experiences and proposals to address gender stereotypes in training and employment.
The day concluded with a powerful testimonial from Lorena Méndez, a scaffolder and welder, who shared her personal journey, the barriers she faced, and the achievements she has made as a woman in construction.
Through the ‘Women Can Build LatAm’ project, Fundación Eurosur highlighted the shared commitment of all individuals and institutions involved and reaffirmed the importance of collective action towards a more inclusive and equitable construction sector.
